Great Helmet.... Outdated I know but....
This helmet was a popular hemet back in the day.
The comfort was great, but after 2 years it gets less and less comfortable with any peice of equipment you have.
I recommend this helmet I haven had any concussions with it or anything like that.
Super durable
Looks, Not so great...but protection and fit is what matters the most in hockey.
Weight is average
Mission Intake *Large Detroit Red Pro-Stock Version*
I bought this helmet in September 2009 from hockey monkey. I have seen a lot of pros wearing it and it just looks cool. I also figured it was my last chance to get hold of one since Bauer purchased Mission/Itech , and Mission was not going to make them anymore. I like how simple the helmet is to adjust and how durable it is. It fit my odd shaped head right out of the box, which was a surprise. I have had a couple helmets and I had problems with fitting. I really enjoy the large vents, I sweat like no other and I find this to be very helpful. It keeps me cool and dry for the most part. It’s not the lightest weight helmet, but it doesn’t make a huge difference. In 2010 I’m really looking forward to trying the Easton S19 or the Bauer 9900 helmet. Out of all the helmets I have tried, I think this ranks up there with my favorite helmet of all time the Bauer 4500. Since I got it as a pro-stock helmet, I believe it cost about $70 US. Great pickup, highly recommend it! If you can find one!
Good helmet, had it for about 2 months. No wear at the moment. Use it 6 to 7 days a week. Pretty light and comfortable. It doesn't fit 100% perfect but I haven't bothered adjusting it at the moment as you have to get a screwdriver to adjust it..... it would be a lot nicer if it was just a clip or whatever that Bauer have...
The air intake is really good and my head is always cool.
Only thing I don't like about this helmet is that it looks pretty bad, but I don't mind as it offers good protection, and it's comfortable.
Really like this helmet. Just need to find a good cage to suit it (at the moment using a 9500).
This helmet was great until about 2 months of use. It fit well and was very comfortable but then the inner pads started to wear down, especially the front pad. The soft gel pads wore down and it became very uncomfortable, almost as if the pads weren't there at all. That being said, the helmet was very light and comfortable during the start, so if you like to get new helmets or have a helmet rotation, then it's not a bad choice. It looks great but if i had the choice i'd probably go with an Intake Fusion instead of this for the fact that the get pads did not last. Also, if you have long hair you may not like the head-lock in the back. It's an extra pad attached with elastics and i've seen a lot of players have their hair caught in it when taking it off, sort of comical.
great lid!. the mhl is a great feature that has probably saved my life atleast once. overall it fits great and looks even better. it has a venting system that keeps the flow dry and makes u more aerodynamic=you being faster. ony complaint is that u have to unscrew the thing to adjust it instead of the clip system that most helmets have.
the first thing i noticed about this helmet the first time i used it on the ice was that when i got off the ice my head was almost completely dry. and trust me, when i had my CCM helmet i was soaked after games because of the fact that i was the one who would keep us in the game so i had to work pretty flippin hard. just the fact that there was so much air intake blew me away lol. yes i do admit it is kinda heavy but thats because unlike reebok, mission doesn't sacrafice wieght for protection. it is incredibly comfortable and i love it. thanx mission for a great lid
I think this helmet protects well on soft impacts i have not really had a really hard impact yet but so far it protected me pretty well. I thought it was quite difficult to change the length of the helmet and i wish it had a width changing device like the nike bauer helmet but it still fits well. It is quite heavy though but not too heavy.
This is a good helmet to buy if you need good protection but weight does not matter.
Probably best helmet I have ever owned. It is very comfortable. I have been hit pretty hard seeming I am defense and never had have a concussion. I think there is all Pros and no cons to this puppy.
The helmet was fine for the first month or so but after about a month i noticed that the srews that tighten the helmet didnt really work. No mater how much i tried, i could tighten the helmet anymore that it already was. After using the helmet for about a year i finaly fully broke it. I put it on my head and it literaly slit in half. the helmet was broken almost amedietly after the perchase but i didnt realize it until it actualy broke. Another porblem i had with the helmet was the screws that i clip my cage onto constently came off. Every 5 or so ice times the screws fell out and got stuck in the cips of the cage. I would have to then take off the strap and re-screw the screw back in. this helmet caused me nothing but problems. For the price i would definetly recomened the nike bauer 5500. Most solid helmet Ive used, and my family for that matter. In closing, i would not recomened that you buy this helmet. To this date i have broken all mission gear that i have ever owned. A helmet within a few months, skates within a year, and a stick. Mission is the worst hockey company ever.
When I first bought this helmet I loved it, and had it combined with the Itech Phantom mask. After awhile, when I started switching out the mask for half shields and that's when I started having durability issues. The side screws would pop out very easily and any time I had to switch out masks I would have major problems lining things up. I ended up having to tape the screw linings to the side pads which was a major pain in the ass.
Overall the design and comfort of this helmet is great, but the durability leaves much to be desired. I would wait and see if they address these issues before picking one up.
