Great heavy duty shin guards for defence

I use my Bauer Ignite 44’s for playing out. When I play defence I use my Itech’s. I hope Bauer, having bought ITECH will keep some of this line going.

Comfort – 5

These fit well and the straps allow for the calf wrap to fit around the calf as snug as you like. The materials in the removable liner are great and the soft comfort foam in the liner does a great job. The guards stay reasonably cool and dry (not the best, but still cool).

Durability – 5

I haven’t had these long but the stitching and materials are heavy duty and I expect them to hold up very well. These are much better made than my other pads, which have Velcro straps falling apart.

Fit – 4

Fit is low for two reasons; these are bit big in size 14 for my leg. I’m average build and these seem to be for a slightly larger leg. However the strapping system ensures they stay in place.

Flexibility – 3

Also, these are discontinued to so good luck getting them in size you prefer. I had a lot of travel to find these in a 14. I’d have rated this criteria higher months ago before they were discontinued and these became hard to find in all sizes.

Protection – 5

The calf wrap is solid, durable and protects very well against errant slap shots and re-directions. The plastic shell is a little harder and rigid than most guards out there. The flaps and and the extension protecting the outside of the knee joint are also high density foam with plastic inserts so there is very good protection. No problems here.

Visual Looks – 5

These just look heavy duty. Why? Because they are

Weight – 4

These are heavy but despite the weight they fit well onto the legs and so you don’t feel the weight as the pads don’t shift on the legs.

In summary these are heavy duty, well constructed pads I believe you can expect to last a long time. If you can get a size that fits they will stay strapped to the leg and be a long serving piece of equipment.

Still going strong. The fabric on the inside has worn near the skates but the wear has stopped there and the foam under the fabric isn't wearing.
The straps continue to hold well and the velcro hasn't lost any of it's grip.
Solid pads.

I sold these, moving to a 15' pad from a 14' pad. I got the Reebock 10k and the 10K has a much better knee cap. I realize know that these have a more "flat" knee cap that doesn't deflect impact as much. My perferct shins would be these pads with the plastic part of the Reebock knee cap.
