Try before you buy

Ever since I started playing hockey I've been a pants guy. I decided to try out a girdle just to see if I was missing out on something special. So here's my take on the CCM Vector Pro girdle...

The Good:
-Pretty good range of motion. The way the leg pads fit on me I know I wasn't getting the full range I would if the girdle fit better though.
-Doesn't look too hideous
-That's about it

The Bad:
-I wish I was a little bit taller. The legs on this girdle were just a tad too long for my build. It got in the way of my knee caps and kept pushing and shifting my shinguards around. I've also been cursed with chicken legs, so strapping the leg pads on higher and tighter wasn't really an option (unless I added more velcro strips somewhere - I'd rather just get a girdle that fits better).
-The kidney protection is overkill. The kidney pieces feel like massive chunks of ABS plastic and are way too stiff. I thought about maybe trimming down the padding, but there's no way to get to the kidney pads without completely destroying the girdle.
-The interior belt can get twisted around and bite into your gut (if you're like me and prefer your pants a bit tighter)
-The mesh material covering the pads catches on the velcro and will definitely shred it

I'm going to return this girdle only because of the fit issues I had - kidney protection and leg pad. Definitely try one on before you buy if you can.
